The above are Minor Institutions, this simply means they are independant record labels, who operate without the funding of major record labels. Most bands and artists start out as independant record labels, however they soon work there way up to the Major Institutions. The independent record labels usually aim their releases at a small but involved audience. Minor Institutions give the artist or bands more freedom and experimentation, as well as a chance at knowing their audiences.
