Final Evaluation of Package

Audience feedback impacted us in making us aware of what needs to be improved and what is good about the products.

We looked at the negatives mainly so we could improve it to our audience expectations and make sure there feedback was noticed. We looked at the lighting mostly and made it brighter by adding a strobe light in the background throughout the bridge of the song to emphasize the speed of the rhythm, after getting more feedback later on the audience agreed it was alot more effective.

The positive feedback we were really pleased with, we were worrying about the vintage effect because from our research on soul pop music video's there is no use of this effect so we took a risk in showing the past as vintage however the audience thought it was good in showing the past in a different effect to the present otherwise it just looked confusing.

Another positive was the pan at the beginning showing the singer walking in and touching the piano indicates to the audience her passion for the instrument, the audience thought it was effective as the pan introduces the artist and intrigues the audience which we noticed as it was a positive comment.

our digi-pak and poster advertisement was very successful, alot of feedback was nothing needs to be changed as it is a effective layout and the background does not overpower the artists image.

Overall the feedback was very helpful and we our pleased with the final products.

Final Evaluation of package

All of our products such as the music video and digi-pak and poster advertisement are for our intended audience of young females, we has a group have researched and planned every stage closly referring back to the questionnaire and other artists of this genre to construct an effective combination.

The digi-pak is where we kept simple colours to keep the artist the main focuss and not be overpowered by the background, we also kept alot of the images of the artist in different angles to connote to th audience abit of her character and a feminity theme throughout, we present her as a beautiful young female with a modern sense of fashion for insistence her curled hair and little black dress. Her makeup is kept natural to keep her to being just like her audience.

Our poster advertisement keeps to the simple colours to keep it connecting with the artists album so the intended audience knows it is promoting that album. The artist is shown in a long shot to emphasise her feminity and modern fashion, also it helps the audience to relate to the main feature which is the artist. Her personality is shown even more by her pose and natural smile.

Our music video creates a interesting narrative of flash backs and reality within the song as well as relating each scene to the lyrics, the singer is the main character and is shown on her own with the piano which is effective as it connotes she is a talented young female who the audience can relate to and be intrigued by. The video has typical codes and conventions of a Soul Pop music video which is the expectations of the intended audience, this creates a sucessful video.

Our marketing campaign follows typical conventions such as the artist as the main focus, furthermore the  audience feedback suggests are products were effective and that we have kept to the intended audiences expectations.

Final Evaluation of package

We has a group used a questionnaire which helped us get idea's from our intended audience of young females to impact our decisions in order to create the best product, this involved keeping the expectations of the audience in mind through all the planning and construction, from this we were able to create graphs to organise our answers from the questionnaire.

A helpful graph used in planning our narrative structure of the music video asked the question  'what do you prefer in the music video of soul pop... the singer in the story? or different characters playing the story out? looking at the graph it was obvious to us that the singer must be a main involvement within our narrative, also developing the narrative within the song is a popular convention used in the 'Soul Pop' genre.

We noticed this in alot of Taylor Swifts music video especially the one that is called 'Love Story' which has the singer as the main character who is in love with a male and it becomes into a structured love story matching the lyrics of the song which we used this type of convention within our product. Such as the singer the main focus who is in a love story however our conventions were more complicated and challenging by the way the male is violent and most of the corruption is because of the male character. We decided in constructing the product to stick to Propps theory of the five stages to a narrative for insistence beginning with a calm equilibrium, with disruption, then recognition of disruption which is where our singer is shown in a long shot of her running from the male and ending with a new equilibrium. Most of the artists we looked at who created a narrative within there song were mainly 'Adele', 'Taylor Swift' and 'Duffy' these were mainly researched by us for giving us idea's on how to create a successful product.

Our music video product challenges the typical ending of our chosen genre, for insistence the female at the end is empowered not a weak victim even though she experiences violence from the male involved, she is free to be herself as she runs away and does not give in, the male is no longer dominant over her as he is out of the picture.

when researching music videos, a few showed there codes and conventions to lead the narrative ending within the song, to reveal the female as weak and not free. An example of this would be Adele's video 'Someone like you' which shows only the male mostly towards the ending standing in a dominant pose.

Looking at how to keep to the codes and conventions of our genres advertisement and album design, we used www.google.com /images and researched artists who our within our genre and what they used to promote there album or the design of the album.
We found that the artist was the main focuss of the album and poster advertisement, also the name of the artist and the name of album was clear and had a lot of feminity codes which emphasised the genre of the music. Also the colours were kept mostly the same in the album and poster advertisement this kept continuity.

Final Evaluation of package

Through our research we used new media technologies in order to help us to construct our products, for example the internet was the main technology that provided us with research and planning stages. The main source was www.google.com which allowed us to get to other intenet websites using the hyperlinks. An example of a hyperlink used it shown below this took us to finding our song which we matched to a genre.

Also the use of the new technology website YouTube impacted our research as it helped us view other types of music videos in our chosen genre 'Soul Pop' such as artists like 'Adele' and 'Taylor Swift', from researching the videos we were able to make decisions on how are narrative would be constructed. Also the mise en scene used was very similar in each music video we researched which helped us make more decisions to construct the product easier and more effective for our intended audience of young females.
Taylor Swift

Adele

Through our planning the internet helped us to communicate easier and fast, through the use of a social network 'facebook' we were able to sort out what extra research or planning needed to be done next this helped us be more organised in creating our product.
The internet helped us find the right feminine font for our digi-pak and advertisement poster, to catch the intended artists and make it more effective also to keep it in with the typical codes and conventions of soul pop. The website used was www.dafont.com this enabled us to look through lots of fonts and find the perfect one to promote the artist.

The final products font was picked and put on the poster advertisement and the album.

Planning was essential in getting a picture of how are products would fit and work to the audience expectations, using the computer software Celtx we were able to create a storyboard of what camera shots would look the most effective at each scene.

Celtx_front.png

The use of Microsoft word which is a computer software helped us plan what days would be best to film each scene for insistence the flashbacks of the music video needed to captured on a sunny day in a garden so it was hard to plan because obviously we didn't know what the weather was going to be, so we had to just pick a few days, fortunately we had one of the hottest days to film the flashbacks. The shooting Schedule organized us on each taking on roles equally, and sorting out who was bringing the propps needed.

Another computer software which was the central technology we used was called imovie, this was where we could edit and change scenes to make it an effective video, for the flashbacks they needed an effect because it just looked odd going from the artist alone singing on a piano to the male and singer together so it was just very confusing to watch, using imovie we were able to add the effect of aged film which just adds a old fashioned look which indicated easier to the audience that there is flashbacks.

Also imovie helped us crop images to emphasize a symbol for example the flower is cropped to a extreme close up in order to emphasize the lyrics '
If I picked a Daisy' this is repeated throughout especially in the chorus, so we decided the flower must be a significant propp.  The first image is of the artist with the flower however this is without the flower being emphasized, using the same shot imovie helped us emphasize the flower which is image two shown.

audience feedback

Positive feedback from audience
·      The use of the piano prop looks realistic
·      Good continuity through the camera shots
·      Storyline/idea fits in well to the song
·      Some of the use of editing gives a vintage effect, which differentiates between the past and present.
·      Medium shot used to display argument made us as the audience relate to what is happening
·      The pan of the singer walking towards the piano at the beginning is effective.

Negative feedback from the audience
·      Lighting is slightly darker in some shots
·      Use of the male character could have been shown more
·      The use of flower was not specifically a daisy which contrasts with the lyrics
·      More close ups in the argument scene could have been used
